Sergeant Mark Usback is currently positioned as a Tactical Commander with the AFP’s Specialist Response Group (SRG) Tactical Response Team.

He has been with the AFP for almost 30 years having had roles in General Duties, Traffic Policing, Accident Investigation, Drug and Property Investigation, Search and Rescue, and Public Order.

Experience and work history has been primarily focused on Tactical Policing, having spent 25 years with the various forms of the AFP’s tactical team.

Mark was promoted to Sergeant in 2002 and has operated in environments both domestically and overseas. Deployments have included Thredbo Landslide, Solomon Islands, Ukraine (MH17), U.S.A, Serbia, Netherlands and Christmas Island.

Mark deployed as a coordinator in relation to the Thailand Cave Rescue. Mark helped manage the Australian Forward Command on site regarding all AFP SRG response activities.
